Register for the 3rd Annual Burden of Surgical Disease Working Group Meeting, hosted by the Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health at the Vanderbilt School of Nursing on March 10-12, 2010.
The Burden of Surgical Disease Working Group is an international group of top health professionals who meet annually to advocate for surgical intervention within global public health, advance knowledge about the large unmet surgical need in low- and middle-income countries, encourage evaluation of surgery and reporting of outcomes, and expand the literature on this growing global crisis.
Former U.S. Senator Bill Frist, M.D. will deliver the keynote address on “Lessons Learned in Haiti: Using Crisis to Highlight Surgical Need.” Other speakers of note include Vanderbilt’s John Tarpley, M.D., Andy Norman, M.D., Mark Newton, M.D., as well as presenters from the World Health Organization, American College of Surgeons, Operation Smile, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
