Senate and
House Pass SGR "Fix;" Payment Cut Frozen through May 31 By a vote of 289 to 112, the House of Representatives tonight (Thursday, April 15) approved H.R. 4851, the Continuing Extension Act of 2010. This legislation continues the Medicare physician SGR payment freeze through May 31. Earlier today, the Senate approved identical legislation by a vote of 59 to 38. The President is expected to sign the bill shortly. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will instruct its contractors to retroactively reprocess any claims that were paid at the lower rate. Claims with dates of service prior to April 1, 2010, are not affected and will continue to be processed under normal procedures at the rates in effect on the date of service. We will share more information as it becomes available.
